McKINNEY, Texas - School officials say they are appalled by altered photos — including heads on different bodies — in hundreds of McKinney High School yearbooks delivered this week.


Besides the head and body switching, some necks were stretched, one girl's arm was missing, and another girl's head was placed on what appeared to be a nude body, with the chest blurred.

A spokeswoman for Minnesota-based Lifetouch National School Studios Inc. said the alterations were "an unfortunate lapse in judgment" by an employee but didn't believe it was malicious.

The high school had required Lifetouch to make heads the same size and eyes at the same level in all student photos, company spokeswoman Sara Thurin Rollin said Saturday. The request was "unusual and definitely very particular, but that's not to suggest what happened here is acceptable," she said.

Rollin declined to say if the company fired or reprimanded the employee who altered the images. She said Lifetouch is taking full responsibility for the altered pictures, about 30 in all, and will pay to have the publication reprinted before the seniors graduate.

Lori Oglesbee, the school's yearbook adviser at McKinney High School, said the yearbook staff would spend the weekend rebuilding the yearbook.

McKinney is about 20 miles north of Dallas.

Sen. Ted Kennedy has had several visitors today, including his wife Vicki, sister Jean Kennedy Smith, daughter Kara, and stepchildren Caroline and Curran Raclin.

In addition, he spoke with Sens. Obama and Chris Dodd by telephone. And Sens. Harry Reid and Chuck Schumer called and spoke with Mrs. Kennedy.

He also watched the Red Sox game this afternoon and has DVDs to watch tonight, including "The Great Debaters," "Best in Show," and some other old movies.

No words yet on test results.

Elizabeth Edwards on Sunday rejected speculation that she might endorse New York Sen. Hillary Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination.

“If you listened to what I said and not to what pundits said I was thinking, you would know that I was never inclined to endorse,” Edwards wrote in an e-mail to Politico Sunday afternoon.

Speculation about whether she might back Clinton spiked when Edwards did not appear Wednesday with her husband, former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards, during his endorsement of Illinois Sen. Barack Obama, who is winning the support of an increasing number of party leaders and superdelegates as he appears poised to edge out Clinton for the nomination.

Elizabeth Edwards told Politico that she was “as usual, a sounding board for my husband, but, also as usual, his decision was ultimately his own, which is as it should be. I never encouraged him to support a particular candidate, only to follow his heart.”

So ragnarok20 makes a post in libertarianism (I know, I know), about the Ron Paul letters that caused a stir and how they aren't racist. Surprisingly, this is not the main stupid.

This little gem is:
rinku tries to bring some sense into the post, but is interrupted by briebribeez, who desperately ignores context. bertro valiantly tries to make the racism more clear to briebribeez, but is shot down by a reply that spectacularly misses the point and really leaves nothing to be said but "lolwut?".

More stupid can be found scattered throughout the post, but that is the juiciest nugget.
